Bounty Hunter Specialization

I know that the Mercenary can wield two blasters, but what makes the Powertech worth it? Do Powertechs simply have better armor proficiency or do they have something more unique?

Single blaster and a shield. The shield gens come in two flavors. Increasing stats more or damage mitigation. Powertechs going DPS only will want the one with more Stats for better DPS.

Marcs get two blasters and can Heal.

So Tank with more stats? or Two blaster and Healing.

You can tank as a Power tech, if you are interested.

They have different armor. They also get a shield generator (not a visual piece of gear). They do get different skill trees and unique abilities that the mercenary does not get.

Powertech is focused on "tanking" for the most part, while using heavy armor, shields and gadgets for the most part. If you're looking to be able to take a punch, at the expense of some damage, and use your gadgets then Powertech may be the right choice.

Powertechs are more armor and defense based. Basically when they are asking you when they says Powertech or Mercenary is do you want to focus more on offense of defense. Powetechs get more shields, more armors, and more defense. Like one of the advantages would be like 15% less damage done against fire. They're can also be offensive parts to being a Powertech, just like there are defensive parts to being a Mercenary. For example, say you work really hard on your armor, you could also add offensive parts to your armor like rockets and flamethrowers. Compare it to the trooper class. Commandos have some armor, but it's lighter and they are more focused on using a big gun, cause they are offensive. Vanguards have heavy armor and use a smaller gun but still have some offensive parts to them as well. It's the same thing with bounty hunters. The character Boba Fett (Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi) is a good example of a powertech, he has lots of armor and thats what he mainly focuses on with lots of different gadgets(most mandalorians are powertechs, because mandalorians are all about their armor), where as Cad Bane, the bounty hunter from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has two blasters, which is what he focuses on, wearing more of a light armor. Hope that helps :).
