All forms of healers will be viable in their own way. The problem with the BH heals is that it uses the heat system so if you overheat in a critical moment you "may" be in trouble. But they have ample methods to clear overheat.

It will definitely be viable if you spec into it. All healers are designed to be just as viable as one another just like all tanks are designed to be equally viable. If you want to heal as a bounty hunter, go for it. You shouldn't have any real problems.

I found, in other MMOs, any class that has a healing tree is a viable healer IF you know hot to play it well. Depends on the person controlling the character.

The Merc Bounty hunter is going to be a great healer.

First off - the heat system they use is incredibly efficient compared to some of the other resource systems, specifically the force system of the inquisitor.

Second - Kolto Shell. This ability is similar to a WoW shaman's earth shield which is incredibly effective cost/output.

Third - Emergency Scan. Their top tier talent is an instant heal and a big one. Those that have played MMO's will realize how crucial an ability like this is to healing.

Where other healers will have the edge on them is in AoE healing. I believe Merc's will be very effective tank healers and group healing will often fall to the other classes in raids.

Healer yes, main healing probably not. But I do not know exactly what it will be like late game, all i got up to was 25 and the few flash points I was in the Bh was not able to keep the group up solo healing.
