Yes it will. Your companions not so much, you will just loose standing with them.

The last official word I saw said yes, at least in terms of Dark-side rank. It would affect your physical appearance.

Your dark/light rank also gives you access to particular gear. IE, you might pick up a robe that requires a ranking of at least Light III. That kind of gear is usually specifically designed to reflect that.

You will change, but you can disable this feature in the interface menu, so if you don't like your new dark side look, there is no problem :)

Your appearance will change based on the level of your dark side corruption. The more dark side points you have the more "corruption" you will see. From the screens I have seen of this effect, your skin tone becomes more greyish. Your eye color will change as well.

If you do not like the effects you can turn it off in the preferences by deselecting "show dark side corruption". In case you are wondering, dark side corruption is possible for the Empire and Republic faction. It is not exclusively Empire. Currently there is not a graphic for Light Side.

There is darkside corruption. It increases with the level of your darkside points. Here is an example of Level 4 corruption. There is, as of now, no light side change in appearance.

You can turn off the darkside corruption if you don't like it. The option is in the in game preferences.

Your companions' appearances will not change, at least not so far.

For a dark side character their face will go grey and get visible veins around their eyes. Their eyes will also glow red in combat. I believe that light side has less visuals and just glowing eyes.
