The only thing i can see is closer to endgame gear. there are pieces that will either require or ban certain light/dark levels. i believe each faction will have endgame dark highest level, and light highest level gear so a grey area may lose out on the strongest endgame gear. on the flipside you would be able to use stuff that says "must not have over light level 2" or something along those lines.

It seems that currently light/dark choices only affect cosmetics. If you go dark, your character's face shows it, and there is gear requiring dark/light alignment.

Light Side and Dark Side affects some of the equipment you can use. For example, A Dark Side Sith couldn't use a Light Side saber.

It also could affect your companions. If then companion with you prefers dark side options and you pick all light side options, they will get minuses to how much they like you.

No you don't lose any content. The choices you make just effect your character/companion rep.

Class quests didn't appear to be really alignment affected for me. Someone might make an offhand comment, but it was just a little extra flavor. I believe some of your choices do have an impact, but I know I personally didn't see a huge impact on my story. You should have no problem playing a gray.

In terms of gear, I recall the devs saying they were going to add neutral gear that would be the equivalent of the dark/light gear, so you should be alright on that front as well.

I honestly haven't come across any classes that require you to be a certain alignment to play it. On the other side, there is a lot of equipment that requires you to be a certain alignment, but as far as I have seen, there is a counterpart for each one. So if it's a 84-99 damage saber with some stats that requires you to be Dark I, there will be another saber on that merchant that does 84-99 damage with the same stats requiring Light I. Alignment doesn't - to me - make that big of a difference in the game, but again, I doubt you will not be able to do something because you haven't "chosen a side."

No you are not mostly missing out, when you make a light or dark side morality choice you are awarded or deducted points. There are "tier levels" for each side and as you progress through the tiers more items will be available to you. As stated currently it appears to be only cosmetic and nothing has been said of any unlockable abilities or special quests.

It will not change how you play throughout a Jedi can make dark decisions but he will still remain a Jedi and follow the same path as others with just some minor changes.

The different choices that you do make can in fact change the story-line. If you lets X person live for whatever reason, yes they can re-enter your story-line. If you kill someone in a story-line you would never know if they would have shown up later on down the road.

Your class Act1 and Act2 are very much so dependent on what decisions you make. You could play the same class multiple times, make different DS/LS decisions and the story would indeed change slightly each time. The end result will not, only the story.

There's actually a great deal of gear limitation based on Light/Dark alignment. Specifically with color crystals for weapons. For example, red color crystals have a "Dark I" requirement even at an early level.

It will affect the gear you are able to use, such as 'principled' being a prefix for light side sabres, and 'dark seekers' being a dark side prefix and so on. Of course these two are just examples.

Furthermore, colour crystals are allowed or denied for your use depending on your 'tier' of light/dark. once you gain enough dark points through the voice options to reach tier or rank 1 of dark side, you can no longer use blue or green colour crystals. alternately, light 1 cannot use red (i'm sure there are further colours restricted to light/dark). If you choose to stay neutral, or grey as you mentioned suiting your play style, provided you can stay neutral and don't reach light or dark 1, you can access all these crystals during that time. Your alignment is very important , if you are collecting lightside points , then your character can purchase items that requires lightside point , or if you collect darkside point you can buy darkside stuff... , but this is the least important thing , you facial appearance will change depending on dark/lightside-points, and the most important your relation with your companions will change based on witch side you'r aligned to...
