Once we pick a specialization, for example assassin for inquisitor, is there anyway to go back and choose the other? Or are we that specialization forever?

Currently there is no way to change, but there is a chance for that to change post launch.
You will be able to change within a relatively short time of making the decision. However, at end-game, for example, you are stuck with your advanced class. They are thinking about allowing you to change it later after launch, but definitely not for launch.
In the Beta, players had the ability to re-choose their specialisation for a nifty fee. So it might be in the final version.
Your "specialization" is actually your Class. The Inquisitor is storyline choice, and the two ACs are the classes, by all intents and purposes.
No, there is currently no plan to allow you to change your class.
With the reduction in XP required to get from 1-10 I do not think it is that important. Also now they show you exactly what your class will look like tree wise and what your class will do function wise (heal, tank, dps). So even if they do not give you the option to chance, unless you happen to hate it really far into the game it will not matter all that much.

This has changed. After improving the explanations, descriptions, and making the skill trees of each AC viewable prior to picking your class, BioWare's metrics showed that no one has been picking ACs by mistake anymore.
As of right now, there is no short-term reclass option for launch.
